Summary: The latter part of the 2 nd century BC was an appropriate time for making a voyage from Judea to New Mexico. The Qumran community was motivated by prophecy of an Apocalypse, which would mark the occurrence of the End Time and the arrival of a Messiah. The shape and size of the earth. was known reasonably well and appropriately large vessels were available to make the trans-Atlantic voyage. The astronomical records were available to anticipate the 107 BC solar eclipse and the time of occurrence of the New Age. There probably were earlier voyages to America for trade purposes, which not only encouraged them, but also guaranteed terra firma to make a fairly good computation of latitude and longitude to determine their proximity to the path of totality. Their voyage was a success with the observation of a deep solar eclipse, and they marked their accomplishment with the Decalogue and Zodiac Stones.
